JMM11, 2012/2013Issues

Posted by Søren R. Frimodt-Møller Mar 01, 2013 08:09:21

We are pleased to announce that the publication of JMM11, the 11th issue of JMM: The Journal of Music and Meaning is now finalized, as of December 17, 2013.

You will find the website for the issue at http://jmm11.musicandmeaning.net

In addition to the blog-based format of the issue, a full PDF document of the issue can also be downloaded here.

Table of Contents:

Editorial Postscript

Peer-Reviewed Papers:

Emma Hooper: "Somewhere a Place for Us: How Intratextual Music-Association Conveys Characteral Identity in The Time of Our Singing by Richard Powers"

Theodore Gracyk: "Covers and Communicative Intentions"

Lehlohonolo Phafoli and Viriri Shava: "The Use and Application of Proverbs in Basotho Accordion Music"

Martin Lawes: "Meaning, Dreaming, Relating and Levels of Consciousness in Music Psychotherapy: a Psychoanalytic, Developmental and Transpersonal Paradigm"

As of this issue, we have chosen to omit the "season" in the issue title. We have done this because the label has tended to blur the fact that there is an ongoing publication process of articles in an issue leading up to the initiation of the next issue. Besides, the season label makes less sense today than it did in the early days of JMM, considering that many of our readers now are from a different hemisphere than those of us on the editorial staff.
